RULES OF THE COURTS
The Prescott Tennis Club courts and clubhouse are owned by the Town of Prescott. The courts and the clubhouse are administered by the Prescott Tennis Club, a volunteer organization, whose mandate is to encourage the maximum safe usage of all the facilities for any and all who are interested in playing tennis safely.
The following rules are designed to maximize everyone's safety and enjoyment.
The following rules are designed to maximize everyone's safety and enjoyment.
- Anyone who chooses to use the facilities does so entirely at their own risk.
- All children the age of 10 or under must be under the supervision of a responsible person (this person need not be a member).
- One of the most dangerous aspects of playing tennis is to accidentally step on an “out of play” tennis ball. Therefore, all players MUST stop play immediately to pickup or move ‘out of play’ balls to the nets or the fences. In the case that any ball rolls onto an adjacent court, ‘stop play’ or a ‘let’ must be called immediately and loud verbal warnings must be given immediately to the adjacent courts to protect those other players.
- All players must use appropriate tennis footwear, specifically no dark soled shoes that leave marks on the courts.
Every player is encouraged to wear the appropriate clothing and to warm up so as to protect themselves and others from injury. Tops must be worn at all times. - No food or liquids of any sort are permitted on the courts with the exception of bottled water in close proximity to the benches or the clothes hangers (racks) at either end of the courts – specifically not at the back of the courts or in mid court.
- No ball containers, discarded sunglasses or any other items are permitted on the courts anywhere except at either end in the appropriate racks or in carry bags.
- Excess clothing may be hung up on the fences where hooks are available but it is encouraged to use the racks at either end and may not be left on the ground at the back of the courts.
- Any and all twigs, leaves, bugs, stones, etc. that have made there way onto the courts must be picked up and disposed of in the waste container or through the fence.
- No smoking on the courts or in the clubhouse.
- Lights are to be turned off by 11 p.m. and the key returned to the hook on the rack inside the court. When only one court is in use with lights, use Court 1 using only the west (adjacent) lights.
- Spectators must stand outside the court fences.
- Guests are permitted to use the courts a total of 3 times, after which time they are expected to become a member of the Club. The fee for guests is $5.00 per day. All guest fees should be collected by the Club member at the time of play and handed to one of the Executive at the earliest convenience. See our Guest Policy for more information.
