The Prescott Tennis Club will open to members on Tuesday, May 19th. But it won't be "business as usual", at least not yet. We still need to follow all government and local advice to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community. With this is mind, we have compiled a list of recommendations and adaptations to tennis activities that will allow for a safe, progressive return to playing tennis. Social distancing and common sense will go a long way to keeping us safe as we finally get back to enjoying the sport we love.
When visiting the Prescott Tennis Club, we recommend the following:
All regular Prescott Tennis Club rules, with regards to membership, etiquette, reserved court times, guest dues, etc., remain in effect.
In this initial phase of re-opening, we are limiting use of the courts to existing members only. As we progress and further COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, we will begin accepting new memberships.
Stay - and play - safe, everyone!
When visiting the Prescott Tennis Club, we recommend the following:
- Wash your hands with disinfectant soap and water (for 20 seconds or longer), or use a hand sanitizer if soap and water are not readily available, before going to the court. Bring your own hand sanitizer with you.
- Only handle your own racquet and use your own clearly marked tennis balls.
- Do not share racquets or any other equipment or belongings such as wristbands, hats, towels and water bottles.
- Do not make physical contact with other players (such as shaking hands or a high five).
- Avoid changing ends of the court or change at opposite sides of the net.
- Use your racquet/foot to pick up balls and hit them to your opponent. Avoid using your hands to pick up the balls.
- Avoid chasing errant balls down to another court if people are using it.
- Maintain social distancing - people should stay at least six feet apart at all times.
- Singles play is recommended (unless all 4 players are from the same household) however doubles play is not prohibited. Use your own discretion in this matter when choosing individuals to play with.
- Remain apart from other players when taking a break or waiting for a court.
- Use every second court when possible.
- Restrict your use of the Clubhouse. It should only be used for washroom breaks, no gathering is permitted.
- Do not play or visit the Club if you are self-isolating or feeling unwell in any way.
